# Broadcast > Full documentation content for Broadcast --- # Default ## Features ### Features Overview **URL:** https://broadcast.mantledocs.com/features-overview In this area, you’ll find guidance on the available features within Broadcast and how to use them. --- ### Using the Media section in Broadcast **URL:** https://broadcast.mantledocs.com/using-media-in-broadcast ## What the Media section is for The **Media** section in Broadcast is where you add the content that will appear on your screens. This is the starting point for screen content before it is organised into collections or added to playlists. From **Media**, you can create three types of content using the labels shown in the app under **Content Type**: - **Image** - **Video** - **Product** Media is the content library for Broadcast. The items you add here are intended to be shown on your connected screens. ![Add Media screen showing Media Details, Content Type, and image upload options](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/103ceec3-4ab8-43fc-b9d0-387c147fbf74/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_10.42.01.png) ## Add media content In Broadcast, open **Media** and choose **Add Media**. In the **Media Details** section, enter a name in **Name**, then choose a **Content Type**: **Image**, **Video**, or **Product**. If you select **Image**, the **Add Image** section lets you choose an **Image Type**: - **Upload Image** if you already have an image file - **Generate with AI** if you want Broadcast to create an image for you If you select **Video** or **Product**, continue with the relevant content setup shown in the form. After adding the content, review the remaining sections such as **Media Settings**, **Link Associated Products (Optional)**, and **Schedule Display Time (Optional)**. These settings control how long the content shows, where it is eligible to appear, and when it can play on screens. ## Upload an image When **Content Type** is set to **Image** and **Image Type** is set to **Upload Image**, use **Upload Image** to add your file. Select **Add file** and upload one of the supported file types: - `.jpeg` - `.png` - `.webp` The maximum file size for image uploads is **100 MB**. Broadcast only accepts image uploads in `.jpeg`, `.png`, or `.webp` format, up to 100 MB. If your file does not upload, check the file type and size first. ## Generate an image with AI If you do not want to upload a file manually, select **Generate with AI** in the **Image Type** area. This gives you a second way to create image-based screen content directly from the **Add Media** flow, instead of preparing the image outside Broadcast first. Use AI-generated images when you need fast campaign visuals or want to test a concept on screen before final creative is ready. ## Set the display duration Use the **Media Settings** section to control how long the media stays on screen. The key field here is **Display Duration**. You can set the amount manually and choose the time unit from the dropdown: - **Seconds** - **Minutes** - **Hours** Enter the number you want, then choose whether that value is measured in seconds, minutes, or hours. ![Media Settings section showing Display Duration with Seconds, Minutes, and Hours options](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/c32981ae-38d0-4843-bd01-fa57a0535be8/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_10.42.47.png) The duration is set manually. For example, you can enter a number such as 10 and then choose **Seconds**, **Minutes**, or **Hours** depending on how long you want that media to display. ## Link products to control visibility The **Link Associated Products (Optional)** section lets you connect media to products. This is optional, but it is useful when you only want content to appear in locations where selected products are currently in stock. To use this feature: 1. Turn on **Link products**. 2. Choose a stock rule in **Display Conditions**. 3. Select products using **Browse Products**. The two display condition options shown in the app are: - **Only display if all in stock** - **Display if any in stock** When products are linked, the media will only show on screens at locations where the selected products meet the stock condition you chose. ![Link Associated Products section showing Link products, Display Conditions, and Browse Products](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/9bb78161-5f37-421e-b126-91ef74595bca/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_10.43.43.png) Product linking is optional. If you leave it off, the media is not restricted by product stock availability. ## Schedule when the media can play The **Schedule Display Time (Optional)** section controls when screens are allowed to show the media. To schedule a media item: 1. Turn on **Set Schedule**. 2. Choose a **Start Date**. 3. Choose an **End Date**, or enable **No End Date**. 4. Under **Display Time**, choose **All day** or **Set specific time**. 5. If needed, enable **Repeat**. This setting is optional, but it is useful for promotions, limited-time campaigns, and time-sensitive messaging. ![Schedule Display Time section showing Set Schedule, Start Date, End Date, No End Date, All day, Set specific time, and Repeat](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/9b2ddffa-b10d-4a95-a929-e214fa760e2e/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_10.44.15.png) If scheduling is turned off, the media is not limited by a display date or time window. ## When to use each content type ### Image Use **Image** for posters, promotional graphics, brand visuals, and campaign artwork. You can either upload your own file or choose **Generate with AI**. ### Video Use **Video** when motion content is the best fit for your screens, such as animated promotions or brand-led display content. ### Product Use **Product** when you want screen content tied more closely to catalogue items, especially when stock-aware visibility matters. ## Best practices for Media - Give each item a clear, searchable name in **Name** so it is easy to find later. - Set a sensible **Display Duration** so content stays visible long enough to be read on screen. - Use **Link products** when stock availability should control whether content appears. - Use **Set Schedule** for promotions with a fixed start or end date. - Use AI image generation for quick drafts, seasonal concepts, or placeholder creative. --- ### How to use Media Collections **URL:** https://broadcast.mantledocs.com/using-media-collections ## What Media Collections are for **Media Collections** in Broadcast let you group related screen content together so it is easier to organise and reuse. A collection can contain multiple media items, making it useful for campaigns built around selected products, seasonal ranges, or promoted lines. In the app, you create these groups from the **Create Media Collection** screen, then connect them to individual media items using the **Media Collections** field on the **Add Media** screen. Use Media Collections when you want one media item to be associated with a named group of related content instead of managing each item separately. ## Create a Media Collection Go to the Media Collections area in Broadcast and open **Create Media Collection**. In **Collection Details**, enter a name in **Name**. Choose the collection **Status**, such as **Active**, if you want it available for use. In **Collection Media**, select **+ Add Media** to add the items you want included in the collection. You can use this to build a collection around a promotion, a season, or a hand-picked product group. If needed, use **Playlists** to find relevant playlists and **Schedule Display Time (Optional)** to turn on **Set Schedule** for date-based campaigns. ![Create Media Collection screen showing Collection Details, Collection Media, Status, Playlists, and Schedule Display Time](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/48e7eb86-1d32-49eb-b59d-81cc638fd8cd/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.03.27.png) ## Attach a collection to a media item After creating a collection, open **Media** and choose **Add Media** or edit an existing item. On the **Add Media** screen, use the **Media Collections** field to search for and select the collection you want to attach. The dropdown shows matching collection names as you type. This links the media item to that collection, helping you keep campaign content organised and easier to surface in the right screen setup. ![Add Media screen showing the Media Collections search field with a collection selected](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/774e7dd9-f12e-4627-bd6f-65d96f559fa3/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.06.51.png) ## When to use Media Collections - **Seasonal campaigns** such as summer, Christmas, or back-to-school content - **Promoted products** you want to market across linked screens - **Selected ranges** where several items should be grouped under one campaign theme - **Reusable content sets** that may be attached to multiple media entries over time Use clear collection names so they are easy to find in the **Media Collections** search field later, for example **Summer Promotion**, **New Arrivals**, or **Store Launch**. ## How this helps on screens Media Collections give you a simple way to organise display content before it is used in your wider Broadcast setup. Instead of treating every media item as separate, you can build grouped campaign content that is easier to manage and apply across your screen marketing. --- ### How to set up Playlists in Broadcast **URL:** https://broadcast.mantledocs.com/using-playlists-in-broadcast-1 ## What the Playlists section is for The **Playlists** section in Broadcast is where you build the content lineup that your screens will play. A playlist can contain individual media items, Media Collections, or a mixture of both. Playlists are also where you connect saved content to linked screens. After a playlist has been created and saved, you can use the **Screens** field to search for a screen and attach the playlist to it. A playlist is the final content layer shown on a screen. You add content in **Media**, optionally organise it in **Media Collections**, and then place that content into a playlist for playback. ![Create Playlist screen showing Playlist Details, Playlist Content, Status, and Screens](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/50509746-8337-4d3a-8046-3deb1548d48a/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.13.26.png) ## Create a playlist Open **Playlists** in Broadcast and choose the option to create a new playlist. On the **Create Playlist** screen, go to **Playlist Details** and enter the playlist name in **Name**. Use the **Status** dropdown to set whether the playlist should be available as **Active**. This status appears in the playlist editor and helps you identify whether the playlist is currently in use. In **Playlist Content**, use: - **+ Add Media** to add individual media items - **+ Add Collection** to add a Media Collection This lets you build a playlist from single items, grouped campaign content, or both together. Create and save the playlist first, then use the **Screens** area to attach it to one or more linked screens. The **Screens** field includes a **Search screens...** box so you can find the correct screen by name. ## Add media and collections to a playlist The **Playlist Content** panel shows the items included in the playlist and how they will be managed together. Each row can show details such as: - **Type** - **Duration** - **Schedule** - **Status** When a collection is added, Broadcast shows it as **Media Collection**. Individual content items appear using their own media type, such as **AI Image**. If a collection contains multiple items, the row also shows the item count. In the example shown below, the playlist summary displays **Contains 4 Items | Total Duration: 23s**. ![Playlist editor showing media and media collection items with duration, schedule, and status](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/ca9f24b2-a9c0-4a4a-9edc-566d4e25a3c2/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.14.55.png) The playlist total duration is calculated from the items currently included, so it is a useful way to check how long one full playback cycle will run. ## Link a playlist to screens Once the playlist has been saved, use the **Screens** section to attach it to linked screens. 1. Open the playlist. 2. Find the **Screens** panel. 3. Click into **Search screens...**. 4. Select the screen you want from the results. After selection, the screen appears as a label inside the **Screens** area, confirming the playlist is attached to that screen. ![Screens search field in a playlist showing available screen results](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/475feddd-2a8f-431d-b844-49ce4ec3cf73/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.14.14.png) If the screen has not been linked in Broadcast yet, it will not be available from **Search screens...**. Link the screen first, then return to the playlist and attach it. ## Manage playlist playback and availability When editing an existing playlist, Broadcast includes additional controls at the top of the page: - **Preview Playlist** to review the playlist - **Archive** to remove the playlist from active use The playlist page also shows its current status beside the name, such as **Active**. This gives you a quick way to confirm whether a playlist is live, test how it will run, or retire it when it is no longer needed. Use clear playlist names based on where or why the content is shown, such as **Front Window**, **Summer Promotion**, or **In-Store Launch**. This makes the **Screens** and playlist search experience much easier as your content grows. ## What can appear inside a playlist ### Individual media Add single items when you want direct control over exactly what appears in the playlist and in what order. ### Media Collections Add a collection when you want a grouped set of campaign content included together. This is useful for promotions, seasonal campaigns, or reusable content sets. ### A mixture of both You can combine collections with standalone media in the same playlist. This is useful when part of the screen rotation belongs to a broader campaign but a few items need to be included separately. ## Best practices for playlists - Build and save the playlist before trying to attach screens. - Use **+ Add Media** for one-off items and **+ Add Collection** for grouped campaign content. - Check **Total Duration** to make sure the full rotation is not too short or too long for the screen location. - Review the **Schedule** and **Status** columns so time-sensitive content behaves as expected. - Use **Preview Playlist** before assigning important content to live screens. - Archive old playlists instead of reusing them for unrelated campaigns when you want a cleaner history. ## Related features Add image, video, and product content before placing it into playlists. Group related content into collections, then add those collections to playlists. This guide follows the real Broadcast setup flow and uses the same feature names you will see in the app: **Media**, **Collections**, **Playlists**, and screen pairing through `broadcast.visualsoft.io`. Collections are optional. If you prefer, you can add media straight to a playlist and skip the collection step. ## Before you start - Make sure Broadcast has been installed from the app store. - Have the images, videos, or product content you want to show on your in-store screens ready. - If you are pairing a screen, make sure the physical display has internet access and can open a web browser. ## Setup steps Open the **Media** area in Broadcast and add the content you want to show on screen. You can add: - **Images** - **Videos** - **Products** from your catalogue - **AI-generated images** Your media library is the starting point for everything else in Broadcast. Once media has been added, you can organise it or place it directly into a playlist. If you are setting up Broadcast for the first time, add a small test set of media first so you can check playback on screen before building larger campaigns. Use **Collections** if you want to group related media together before adding it to a playlist. This is useful for organising content by: - Season - Campaign - Promotion - Event For example, you might create collections for **Easter**, **Summer Sale**, or **New Arrivals**. If you do not need that extra layer of organisation, you can skip this step and add individual media items directly to a playlist instead. Open **Playlists** and create a playlist for the content you want to show. When building a playlist, add either: - Individual media items - Media collections - Or a mixture of both Arrange the items in the order you want them to play on your screens. This playlist becomes the content schedule that you will assign to a display screen during pairing. Each screen can only be linked to **one playlist** at a time, so make sure the playlist includes everything you want that screen to show. To connect a physical screen, open a web browser on that screen and go to `broadcast.visualsoft.io`. The pairing page displays a **six-digit code**. Back in the Broadcast admin, start the screen pairing flow and enter that code to link the screen. Once the screen is paired, assign the playlist you created earlier. That determines what content will appear on that screen. A paired screen can only be assigned to one playlist at a time. If you need different content on different screens, create separate playlists before pairing them. ## Recommended first-time workflow 1. Add a few media items to **Media**. 2. Create a collection only if you need to group content for a campaign or season. 3. Build one playlist containing your test content. 4. Open `broadcast.visualsoft.io` on the physical screen and enter the on-screen six-digit code in Broadcast. 5. Assign your playlist to the paired screen. 6. Confirm the content starts playing as expected. ## What to do next Once your first screen is working, you can expand your setup by adding more media, creating more playlists for different areas of your store, and pairing additional screens as needed. --- ## FAQs ### How do I pair my display screen? **URL:** https://broadcast.mantledocs.com/pairing-a-screen-in-broadcast ## Pair a screen in Broadcast Use the **Screens** section in Broadcast to connect a physical display screen to your account. Pairing a screen creates the link between the display and Broadcast so you can assign a playlist, set its location, and add tags for easier management. To pair a screen, you will need access to both the Broadcast app and the display screen you want to connect. ## How screen pairing works Broadcast uses a 6-digit pairing code. You generate this code on the display screen, then enter it in the Broadcast app from the **Screens** section. In Broadcast, go to **Screens** and start the flow to pair a new screen. On the display screen you want to connect, open a browser and go to `broadcast.visualsoft.io`. This will generate a 6-digit code for that screen. Back in the Broadcast app, enter the 6-digit code into the **Pair New Screen** window. ![Pair New Screen window showing six code entry boxes in Broadcast](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/037cbc42-ad23-4bee-bf28-25055494de7e/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.34.17.png) Once the code is accepted, the screen is linked to your Broadcast account. You can then complete its details, including **Name**, **Location**, **Status**, **Tags**, and **Playlist**. ## What you can do after pairing After a screen has been paired, you can manage it from its screen details page. ![Screen details page in Broadcast showing Name, Location, Status, Tags, Playlist, and Change Playlist](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/0949ceef-923e-42ff-8b29-ed2fe2086430/Screenshot_2026-06-19_at_11.35.01.png) - **Name**: Give the screen a clear name so it is easy to identify. - **Location**: Assign the screen to a location it's to be used in. - **Status**: Set the screen status, such as **Active**. - **Tags**: Use tags to organise screens and make them easier to filter or group. - **Playlist**: Connect the screen to the playlist you want it to display. If a playlist is already connected, the screen details page shows the **Selected Playlist**, the total duration, and the media included in that playlist. You can update this using **Change Playlist**. Use descriptive screen names and consistent tags to make it easier to manage multiple screens across different locations. ## Frequently asked questions Start in the **Screens** section of the Broadcast app. This is where you pair new screens and manage existing ones. Open a browser on the display screen and go to `broadcast.visualsoft.io`. The screen will generate a 6-digit code that you enter in Broadcast. The pairing code is **6 digits**. Once paired, the screen becomes available in Broadcast so you can assign a playlist, set a location, update its status, and apply tags. Yes. After pairing, open the screen details and assign a playlist there. You can also change the assigned playlist later using **Change Playlist**. Yes. Screen details include both **Location** and **Tags**, which helps you organise and manage screens more easily. Make sure the code was generated on the correct display screen and entered exactly as shown. If needed, reload `broadcast.visualsoft.io` on the display to generate a fresh code and try again. ## Related guides Follow the full first-time setup flow, including media, playlists, and pairing your first display screen.
